2023 State of Kansas Cowboy Poet -June 9, 2023, Mary Powell, also known as the Barnyard Mare, Duchess of the Prairie, won the State of Kansas Cowboy Poetry Contest in the Humorous division and won 3rd place in the Serious Division. Mary was then invited to perform her award winning poetry at the Symphony on the Prairie that was as Eskridge, Kansas on June 10, 2023, where she was given the Governor’s Buckle for Cowboy Poetry. She is seen below with the Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Beam.
Environmental Stewardship Award -In 2022, the Barnyard Weed Warrior goats and Mary were nominated and won the Environmental Stewardship Award by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for the Stewardship Practices work they do with the goats.
