Goats 101 Classes

In the winter time, we offer educational classes on the basics of raising meat goats. We cover the basic animal husbandry skills needed to raise meat goats, housing, nutrition, fencing, birthing and health issues are some of the basics we cover. In addition we talk about the USDA Scrapies program as well as transporting goats.

This class is offered via Zoom and can be scheduled according to the person who takes the class. We charge $75 for the class and the student will get a packet of information and a Meat Goat production handbook from Langston University.

Who can take the class? Anyone from 1st grade up. We ask that parents also participate in the Zoom meetings, so they can help the student if they need clarification on any topics. Students over 12 yrs of age should be able to grasp the more technical topics such as dealing with birthing issues. Students under 12 must have parents approve the topic to cover hard birthing issues.

Classes are customized for each individual. Most classes are 1/2-1 hour in length and are intended on building upon each topic. Most participants will have 10-15 sessions via Zoom.
